About Me

Hey I am Kristen, aka Kliuwong.
I’m a Los Angeles-based artist originally from San Francisco. Growing up in a family of teachers - my mom is an art teacher - I’ve always had a passion for the arts and an interest in expressing myself creatively. That love of art and storytelling led me to study Illustration at Pratt Institute where I developed my interests in painting, drawing, communication design, and printmaking, which are all areas I continue to work in throughout my practice, constantly experimenting and pushing my own creative boundaries.

Since graduating, I've regularly shown my art in galleries all over the United States and internationally. In addition to my gallery practice, I've worked as a freelance illustrator with an extensive range of clients on projects ranging from murals to editorial illustrations to clothing lines, and now I also teach at Laguna College of Art & Design, mentoring students while refining my own artistic vision.

My art focuses on women and the complexity of human nature - real, layered, and powerful. I love bright, vibrant colors paired with aggressive energy, plus the little details that make a piece feel alive. Everything I create celebrates individuality, strength, and the unexpected, while inspiring curiosity, dialogue, and emotional connection with viewers.
